The Magic Kingdom theme park is one of four theme parks in Walt Disney’s World Resort. Children and adults alike will be amazed and enchanted by the attractions and entertainment which feature all their favourite Disney characters.

Cinderella Castle

The resort is spread over 107 acres with the main focal attraction being Cinderella’s Castle which is found at the centre of the park. Paths lead from the castle to six fantasy lands which are Main Street (USA area), Adventureland area, Frontierland area, Liberty Square, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland area. The attractions at the Magic Kingdom Park include Fantasyland’s ‘Its a Small World’ where a boat ride takes you through the continents of the world, Tomorrowland’s Astro Orbiter where a rocket ride takes you on a ride through space, Frontierland’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad where a runaway train races through a gold-mining town, Adventureland’s Jungle Cruise where you ride on a old safari boat through untamed rivers, The Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square where you can see a stage show featuring the history of every American president, The World Railroad in Main Street which takes you on a tour of the theme park on an antique steam-powered engine and many many more attractions, there are just too many to mention!
 

Fantasyland

Walt Disney World’s Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom in Florida is due to double in size. New attractions will open in phases, starting in late 2012 and will include a Fairytale Hall where children can meet Disney princesses, a Goofy rollercoaster, two Dumbo carousels, a Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and a Little Mermaid ride.

A new attraction which has already opened is a show called The Magic, Memories and You where images of that day’s visitors are projected on to Cinderella’s Castle. This ten minute show is displayed twice a day.

The Best Friends Pet Resort is due to open on August 27th.

Located on Bonnet Creek Parkway within the Disney World complex, the resort will be able to accommodate 270 dogs, 30 cats and other animals including birds and small mammals.

The luxury facilities available here for dogs will include standard accommodation with bedroom area and small patio, vacation villas with a television and luxury VIP suites with a television a large private outdoor play area, all located in the Doggy Village.
For cats there will be 2 and 4 storey condos which are located in the Kitty City Pavilion.

The whole luxury resort covers an area of over 50,000 sq ft both indoors and outdoors, 17,000 sq ft of which is an air conditioned indoor area. The resort has a waterpark( just for the dogs), a 3,300 sq ft play area with artificial turf and a 4,500 sq ft play area complete with trees.

The resort even offers a ‘bedtime stories’ service where they read a story to the dog before it goes to sleep!

Owners can leave their pets here just for the day or they can be left for longer periods and they can visit whenever they wish.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened its doors temporarily to visitors of Orlando International’s Pow Wow convention last week.

Flight of the Hippogriff

Most of the park has been completed including the Hogsmeade Village, shops, restaurants, Hogwarts Castle and the Dragon Challenge and Flight of the Hippogriff roller coasters. Work is currently being completed on the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride inside the castle, which is a 360 degree experience.

The park is due to open on 18th June.

Disney Parks has just announced their plans for a new resort at Walt Disney World Resort which will be located adjacent to Disney’s Pop Century Resort Florida.

The new resort is being designed to be family orientated, with themed rooms and amazing sights to see around the resort, including a 35ft tall model of King Triton (from The Little Mermaid).

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will feature suites designed around four themes. These themes will be The Lion King, Cars, Finding Nemo and The Little Mermaid.

The new units will include 1,120 family suites in The Lion King, Cars and Finding Nemo wings and 864 themed rooms in The Little Mermaid wing. All rooms will have themed interiors.

Twenty-three years ago, at the height of his career, Michael Jackson joined forces with Disney to create ‘Captain EO’, a groundbreaking 17-minute 3D film experience.

This classic musical spectacular that thrilled Disneyland park guests from 1986 – 1997, will return this month for an exclusive, limited engagement at Disneyland.
The return of Captain EO to Tomorrowland will provide new audiences with the opportunity to experience the original 3D production for the very first time, as well as a nostalgic look back for Michael Jackson fans to see “The King of Pop” in a rare performance created for the big-screen.

Testing is already underway as Disneyland employees were invited to check out the attraction last week.

Merlin Entertainments,  Europe’s No 1 and the world’s second largest visitor attraction operator,  has announced a multi-million dollar investment in the biggest family tourist centre in the world with the planned opening of LEGOLAND Florida.

Cypress Gardens

Merlin has purchased the historical Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven Florida and will open LEGOLAND Florida on the site at the end of 2011. Cypress Gardens is located about 30 minutes from Orlando, close to Tampa, and is a popular location for millions of visitors.
The deal to buy the 145-acre site includes the freehold on the current theme park and waterpark as well as an operating lease in perpetuity on the historic botanical gardens.
Merlin plans a significant multi-million dollar investment over a number of years, up to and beyond opening, in what will be the biggest LEGOLAND to date.

LEGOLAND

LEGOLAND Florida will be the biggest LEGOLAND Park ever opened and will offer a unique mix of more than 50 rides, shows and attractions, including spectacular LEGO models and other interactive elements for the whole family to enjoy together. The park will also have its own unique ‘twist’ reflecting its stunning location and adding a Florida flavour.

The Florida development will be Merlin’s second LEGOLAND Park in North America and will play an important role in the group’s continued growth in the US. The park will be geared towards families with children between the ages of two and 12. Its design will mirror the successful concept of the four existing LEGOLAND Parks in Denmark, Germany, UK and California. LEGOLAND California was recently voted the country’s best children’s theme park by Amusement Today for the sixth year running. It is also recognised as the fastest growing theme park in the US, enjoying an increase in visitor numbers year-on-year, including 6% in 2009.

When it opens, LEGOLAND Florida will be the company’s thirteenth attraction here. It joins LEGOLAND California, SEA LIFE Carlsbad, Madame Tussauds New York, Hollywood, Las Vegas and Washington, D.C., LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Chicago and the Underwater Adventures Aquarium in Minneapolis. Four more attractions are also in development, SEA LIFE Phoenix, LEGOLAND Discovery Centres in Dallas Fort Worth and New Jersey and the Pepsi Globe observation wheel in New Jersey.

The grand opening of Aria Resort and Spa last week caps off a month of high-flying, celebrity-filled launches to introduce the new CityCenter complex to the world. At a cost of around $9.2 billion, the 67-acre CityCenter is the largest privately funded development in U.S history and represents a new era for Las Vegas.

Hundreds of Las Vegans and guests from around the world descended on Aria for 12 hours of launches and partying. The Aria has 4,000 guest rooms, 3 pools and a host of fine dining and bars. A tribute to the life of the King himself, Viva Elvis is the latest production from Cirque du Soleil and is housed in the specifically designed theatre at Aria.

Vdara Hotel and Spa led the CityCentre openings on December 1st with an exclusive, star-studded bash. In conjunction with Vanity Fair, the party was an invite-only event hosted by Orlando Bloom, Rosario Dawson and famed photographer Sebastian Copeland.

Crystals Shopping Complex

Crystals Retail and Entertainment District opened the doors to its 500,000 square feet of shopping heaven on December 3rd, featuring an incredible array of luxury brands including Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Prada, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli and Ermenegildo Zegna. Among several innovative fine-dining experiences opened at the event was the Latin steakhouse ‘Beso’, owned by Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria Parker.

Mandarin Oriental, located right at the front of the CityCenter, held it’s grand opening on December 4th. The hotel’s impressive “Sky Lobby” is located on the 23rd floor, providing a stunning arrival experience with glittering views of the Las Vegas skyline. A non-gaming hotel, Mandarin Oriental offers guests a rest from the bustling strip and all its activities.

The CityCenter has created 12,000 new jobs. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Warner Bros. has teamed up with Universal Studios in order to create a Harry Potter “Theme Park within a Theme Park”.

Scheduled to open in the spring 2010,  The Harry Potter theme park will open around the same time as the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie.

This 20 acre theme park located in Orlando, Florida will enable visitors to experience scenes from the books and movies.

Inspired by J.K. Rowling’s compelling stories and characters, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universals Islands of Adventure will provide visitors with a one-of-a-kind experience, complete with multiple attractions, shops and a signature restaurant.
