The “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue” ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios last week re-opened on the 20th May with many improvements and to a large crowd of awaiting Star Wars fans, celebrities and press. The ride has been improved with 3D animation, new destinations, characters and adventures (more than 50 story combinations are possible).
The ride uses flight simulator vehicles, audio animatronics, 3D video and special effectes to create a fantastic Star Wars ride. At the re-opening fans were joined by George Lucas and many characters from the set of the popular Star Wars movies.
Originally opened in 1989, the ride has had some major re-enhancements and adaptions that also now include characters and plot lines from the more recent ‘prequel’s’ to the original Star Wars films.
Expect to see Yoda, C-3PO, Boba Fett, Princess Leia, R2D2, Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Admiral Ackbar and Chewbacca amongst others plus brand new Star Wars characters. If family holidays to Orlando are planned in the future, make sure you visit this ride as everyone will love it!
Star Wars Weekends
The ride re-launched just in time for the first ‘Star Wars weekend’ in May, which took place at the weekend (20-22nd May). These weekends incorporate special Star Wars events including autograph sessions and motorcades. This weekend saw guests Anthony Daniels (C3PO), Daniel Logan (Boba Fett) and Dave Filoni (Supervising Director Star Wars the Clone Wars) take part in the extra special events.
Further events will be held in May and also June so if you’re thinking of visiting now’s the time to make the most of any last minute holiday deals available for Orlando!
